Architect Member

Architect Member (AIA): Individuals licensed to practice architecture in a U.S. state or territory. 2010 Application

Total 2010 membership dues: $721.00 (includes membership in AIA National, AIA State, and the AIA Long Beach/South Bay Chapter) for one year. Discounts are available for initial and second year memberships.

  • Chapter assignment is based on the zip code of where you work or live. If you do not live in the Long Beach/South Bay chapter area, but would like to be a member of AIA Long Beach/South Bay, please contact melissa@aialb-sb.org or call (562) 989-1399.
  • In order for your application to be fully processed, you must provide a copy of your current license.
  • This type of membership requires joining at the local, state and national levels.

Associate Member

Associate Member (Assoc. AIA): Individual without a U.S. architectural license who is either a recent architecture school graduate, working in architecture, a faculty member in a university program in architecture, or currently enrolled in the Intern Development Program (IDP) and working toward licensure. 2010 Application

2010 membership dues: $221.00 (includes membership in AIA National, AIA State, and the AIA Long Beach/South Bay Chapters) for one year. Discounts are available for initial and second year memberships.

  • This type of membership requires joining at the local, state and national levels.
  • Qualified candidates include individuals without a U.S. architectural license who meets one of the four membership criteria:
    • Recent graduate with a degree in architecture (if you have graduated within the past 18 months, you qualify for the Assoc. AIA - Recent Graduate membership)
    • Currently enrolled in the Intern Development Program (IDP) and working toward licensure
    • Currently work under the supervision of an architect or hold a degree in architecture
    • Faculty member in a university program in architecture

Recent Graduate - Associate Member

Recent Graduate - Associate Member (Assoc. AIA): Individual without a U.S. architectural license who is a recent architect graduate. 2010 application (diploma or transcript required)

2010 membership dues: FREE (includes membership in AIA National, AIA State, and the AIA Long Beach/South Bay Chapter)

  • Chapter assignment is based on the zip code of where you work or live. If you do not live in the Long Beach/South Bay chapter area, but would like to be a member of AIA Long Beach/South Bay, please contact melissa@aialb-sb.org or call (562) 989-1399 .
  • In order for your application to be fully processed, you must provide a copy of your diploma or transcript.
  • This type of membership requires joining at the local, state and national levels.
  • Qualified individuals receive up to 18 months of free membership in the AIA, ending December 31 of the following year of graduation.

Candidates include individuals who have graduated with a degree in architecture from a NAAB-accredited school. You can access a list of accredited programs. National Architectural Accrediting Board

Component Allied Members

Our Allied/Affiliate and Corporate Affiliate/Allied memberships are for those working in fields other than architecture. The main difference between the two memberships is that Allied is for individuals and Corporate Allied is for firms. Contact melissa@aialb-sb.org or call (562) 989-1399 for membership application.

Allied: Individual working in a field other than architecture, such as design, engineering, construction, law, marketing, etc.

  • 2010 membership dues: $250.00 (Includes membership to AIA Long Beach/South Bay Chapter only.)
  • Allied membership provides local benefits only.
  • Allied members share in all AIA Long Beach/South Bay resources, programs, services, and activities, establishing relationships with architects that go beyond sales and specifications.

Corporate Allied: Firms working in industries other than architecture, such as design, engineering, construction, law, marketing, etc., who wish to have the entire firm receive benefits of local membership.  Contact melissa@aialb-sb.org or call (562) 989-1399 for membership application.

Student Member

Student: Individual currently enrolled in an architecture or architecture-related program at a local institution. 2010 application

  • 2010 membership dues: FREE
  • Student membership provides local benefits only.
  • Students currently enrolled in an architecture or architecture related program at a local institution. If you are not enrolled in an accredited program, you may not qualify for Associate status when you graduate - please see the requirements under Associate member.
  • This membership is separate from the "AIA Student" (AIAS) organization.
  • Schools in the area with architecture programs include:
    • Long Beach City College
    • Cerritos College
    • Harbor College
