    A well established Northern California architectural firm is on an aggressive hunt for a seasoned business leader who can lead an architectural studio to the next level. The Studio Director is the leading member of the Education (K-12, community college, and university) Studio architectural team. Primary responsibilities include developing and orchestrating the resources of the studio to achieve the Marketing & Sales Plan and Budget. Business development is a significant element of the overall responsibilities. Serves as a member of the firm’s executive team. Requirements A bachelor’s degree is required. A graduate degree is preferred. Demonstrated experience in increasingly responsible architectural leadership. Business development background preferred. Minimum of 20 progressive years of California public and private, K-12 and higher education, design and construction experience, involving the same or similar building type, size and complexity. Experience working with the California Division of the State Architect and Office of Public School Construction. California Architectural License required. NCARB certification preferred. Reviews plans developed by field teams and consultants to confirm conformance with standards and to identify best practices. Plans utilization, planning allocation rules, sizes, layout, design, and/or infrastructure of space and facilities for hospitals and medical facilities consistent with requirements of technology integration, efficiency, safety, and cost effectiveness. Evaluates, selects, and applies standard architectural/design/engineering/planning techniques, procedures, and standards. Researches, plans, designs, reviews functional/spatial/design/infrastructure requirements of new structures or renovation, and assists field teams and KP service areas in preparing information regarding function, design, specifications, materials, equipment, estimated costs and construction time for management approval. As needed, prepares scale drawings and may provide technical input to contract documents for building contractors. Essential Functions: • Under general supervision, performs all conventional and moderately advanced planning and/ or architectural techniques, procedures, and standards. Plans and completes assignments requiring more advanced techniques. • Coordinates the development of templates and standards for planning, design, structure specifications, materials, equipment, estimated costs, and constructability of medical and support spaces-- with focus on user requirements, safety, cost efficiency, and integration of technology and best practices. • Performs programming, planning, design and development and documentation activities of broad scope including spreadsheets, drawings, calculations, manuals/comprehensive documents and coordination with hospital/medical facility users. • Develops presentation materials and present to various audiences. Leads moderately sized special projects as assigned. • Develops and leads Content Expert Panels. Serves as resource and advisor to field teams and KP service areas/regions. • As appropriate, conducts inspections inside buildings to assess current state versus desired end state and to capture those requirements. • As needed, provides technical guidance to designers/drafters and less experienced architects/planners. • Adheres to accepted industry and company standards. • Works on assignment of diverse scope. • Generally performs within broadly defined practices and guidelines, and also modifies or suggests enhancements. • Requires planning to coordinate with other departments or resources. Basic Qualifications: • Minimum of 9 years healthcare planning and/or architectural, design experience. • Experience leading user groups. • Experience representing work to senior management. • Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, space planning or equivalent. • Thorough knowledge of policies, practices and systems. • Complete understanding and application of principles, concepts, practices, and standards. • Full knowledge of industry practices. • Broad application of principles, theories, and concepts in applicable discipline, plus working knowledge of other related fields. • Technical, professional & business knowledge and experience of healthcare delivery.
