David Fernandez, AIA

David Fernandez is the Director of the Aptus Long Beach office where he oversees company operations, design, and marketing efforts in southern California. As a licensed Architect with over 30 years of experience, David’s design expertise began at a young age, always drawing as a kid and admiring the design of automobiles. His pursuit of architecture began while training as a cartographer and graphic designer for the oil industry in Houston. This training allowed him to support himself through architecture school at the University of Houston.

Upon graduating, David began his career in Boston at firms focused on transportation, urban infill, public housing and landscape projects before finding his calling in commercial office and corporate interiors. Following Boston, David also practiced in South Florida, and eventually made his home in Southern California heading up the Aptus Long Beach office.

When David is able to pry himself away from his passion of architecture, he enjoys community service, volunteering and serving as board director to various non-profit associations. Currently, David serves as Board Director to the AIDS Food Store, Long Beach Community Hospital Foundation and now the AIA LB-SB Chapter.
